If you read the "About" section of my blog, you know I have been through a lot. So week 1 comes to an end and week 2 starts. I began tracking my calories and adding fresh fruits and veggies to my days. No working happened all week long. (I know! Bad me!!!!) My Bradley has joined me on this journey and I think he's having a harder time than me! He wants to munch ALL the time.
I am using Sparkpeople as my go to for everything! Click on Sparkpeople and make sure you put that "commit2myself" referred you that way we can be instant friends! They track food, fitness, offer motivation, success stories, groups, challenges, they have so much to offer.
In March 2014, I met my future in-laws, they're wonderful! Another cyst was found and my CA125 Levels were more than double what is normal. I visited with a gynecological oncologist and after lengthy discussions and disagreements she has accepted my terms and I am now back to seeing a regular ob/gyn. You see, her concern, of course as a doctor it would be, is that the cyst is not diagnosable, however, with it NOT growing and my CA125 levels returning to normal, I refused surgery. There is a risk of losing use of my ovary, now i only have one left.
I also spent 2 weeks in the hospital with meningitis. Some of the worst pain I have ever had in my life! I can't even express how painful it truly was, my sweetheart went to visit me every day after work and stayed in the hospital with me. I was in ICU for a week, I was not doing good at all :( I over came that.
I have a biopsy scheduled for next week for my endometrial lining, I am NOT excited. They want to rule out endo cancer. I feel confident about that, I believe it's from my irregular period.
Anyhow I've gotten Bradley and I on a program to eat healthier and track our calories, he is having a harder time at night, he just wants to munch! We're starting small, focusing on tracking food this week, it's been rough with all my health issues and appointments, but we're making better choices daily. Next week going to track and definitely stay within range of calories. We will track every day :)
So, Bradley and I decided to share this healthy journey together, he has gained a lot of weight since we've been together too. The car wreck we were in still affects his knee and he has this problem with always wanting to munch when he gets home from work. I have a similar problem. Though not as bad as him. Sometimes I just look at him and say "Hey fatty! we're never gonna get healthy this way!" and he laughs and kisses me. But he knows it's true. As a side note, I've always been extremely sensitive about that word, especially with my ex, I know I shouldn't say it, he NEVER says it to me. He knows I say it with love, He needs tough love and I need gentle support. How opposite we truly are.
When I met my future in-laws, his grandmother told him (when I wasn't there, I'm sure she didn't want to hurt my feelings) "Bradley if you stop eating all that crap, she will too. You want to live a long life with her and you guys can't do it like that." She was right, I just mirror the person I am with. It just becomes habit. So this week, even though we didn't stay within calorie range every day, we did most days and what's more, we made BETTER choices over all. We have had fresh fruits and fresh vegetables every single day. I had no soda, he had one bottle of Diet Dr. Pepper, we had no red meat (and his heartburn is NOTICEABLY decreased), and we didn't work out at all last week....
However!
Bradley lost 8 pounds! I lost 6 pounds!
Bradley got so excited! He's been saying he's hungry, but he isn't he just wants to munch and stuff himself, he admitted that to himself. So this morning I made him a yummy breakfast burrito, he would normally eat two, but today he says "I only need one, I know that. I am so proud of the weight I lost, I will make better choices. I know every week won't be as much weight loss, but I really only need one." He also had 2 cups of skim milk (which before he refused to drink! He said only whole milk, but I got him on my side). Cutting out that extra burrito saved him a TON of calories and when he wants to munch later on tonight, he can, he'll have the extra calories. I have little baggies set aside with grapes, carrots, strawberries, we also have yogurt and a few fiber one snacks.
I'm pretty excited too :) So we've been having issues with our truck, and we don't like driving it so we decided, what the heck, why doesn't Bradley just walk to work? It's just over a mile. I walked him most of the way. I walked 1.8 miles total there and back :) so we both got exercise today :) It felt good to have this success We both texted each other when we reached our final destination (Me home and Him Work) saying it felt good! Yes it felt good to sweat!
